Rain inside
Ibrahim Nasrallah
Translated from Arabic by Omnia Amin
Rain inside, by Ibrahim Nasrallah, is a Arabic poetry collection from Jordan, translated by Omnia Amin, Rick London, published by Curbstone Press in 2009. It is a book where weather becomes inward, turning rain into a figure for grief, renewal, and pressure held inside the self. There is enough factual grounding here to place the book, but the real test is readerly. Does the poem leave an image behind; does it change the room; does it ask the tongue to behave differently for a moment? This collection earns its place because it keeps that possibility open. That small hesitation matters, because poetry often begins where summary stops being enough.
