Mirror of My Heart
Anthology
Translated from Persian by Dick Davis
Mirror of My Heart is an anthology translated by Dick Davis from Persian, gathering Persian-language poetry from Iran through an anthology of Persian women poets, mirror-work, and the hidden heart speaking across centuries. Its value comes from chorus rather than singular authorship, so I would not treat it as one poet's private weather. The better entrance is through mirror, heart, women, and the reflective surface where selfhood becomes both revelation and disguise. Anthologies can become maps, but the best ones also leave room for wandering, disagreement, and surprise. Mirror of My Heart belongs in the translated poetry library because it belongs as a substantial Persian anthology foregrounding women as makers of tradition rather than exceptions to it. It gives a reader several doors into a tradition before asking them to choose only one.
